Matt Johnson

Matt is our resident DJ instructor. He started his musical journey playing drums at the age of 6 and then ventured out into the vast world of vinyl, mixing and scratching. His favorite musical styles are techno, house, funk and hip-hop. Matt has played under the ”A Place Called Bliss” moniker since 1991. He has also produced records for Detroit labels +8/Probe and Switch Records, as well as producing music for The National Ballet of Canada. Jeff Mills and Murat are his favorite DJ’s.

I.R. Ventura

I.R. teaches the Violin, Fiddle and also Acoustic/Electric Guitar. He started playing the Violin when he was 7 and the guitar when he was 10. He saw Jay Cayuca perform on television and decided he’d like to learn how to play the violin so he asked his mother to enroll him in the conservatory. He started with classical music and later branched out to fusion, rock and celtic playing. He studied in St.Scholastica’s Conservatory of music taking up Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music, Violin. He plays with local guys like Tim MacIntosh and MT bottle but he’s also the violinist for the awesome “Delaney” I.R.’s favorite players are Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Lane, John Mayer, Stevie RayVaughan. He’s been teaching for 8 years now.

Jeff is another one of our talented guitar teachers. He started playing the guitar at the age of 12 and doesn’t favor any particular style but excels in all musical styles. Jeff studied finger-style guitar with Dan LaBrash and has been teaching music himself for 5 years now.
